The MSE-156/159 are the flagship two-way point source models from EM Acoustics. Each is a powerful fullrange loudspeaker intended for a wide variety of applications – both mobile and permanently installed – but primarily aimed at touring applications. The two loudspeakers are identical in every respect except for coverage angle – the MSE-159 being a wider dispersion variant. EMS-215, EMS-118 and MSE-218 subwoofers can be added to extend system response where required. The MSE-156/159 is completely passive yet outperforms many bi-amplified or processed designs. The enclosure contains a 15¡± (381mm) neodymium LF drive unit, linked via the internal passive crossover network to a 4¡± (102mm) diaphragm, 1.4¡± (36mm) exit HF compression drive unit. The HF drive unit is coupled to a constant-directivity waveguide, which produces a 60¡ÆH x 40¡ÆV dispersion pattern (MSE-156) or 90¡ÆH x 60¡ÆV (MSE-159). Both waveguides are rotatable for maximum flexibility. The robust enclosure is constructed from premium multi-laminate Birch plywood and is finished in impact resistant textured paint. The front of the loudspeaker is protected by a rigid steel grille backed with acoustically transparent foam. The primary rigging system utilises keyhole quick-release flying plates top & bottom, allowing attachment of hardware in seconds. The hardware is completed with a pair of steel bar handles, 35mm polemount socket and various additional threaded fixings provided in the enclosure. The enclosure is supplied in black or white as standard, however RAL colour matching and weather protection options are also available if required. The MSE-156/159 requires a single amplifier channel, and should be used with professional power amplifiers capable of delivering 1000-1500W RMS into an 8-ohm load. For optimal results, the EM Acoustics AQ-10 power amplifier should be used.
