The i-2 is an ultra-compact passive loudspeaker, intended primarily for applications where physical size, dispersion control and sonic performance are critical. Typical applications include front fill & under-balcony fill, as well as distributed sound systems.
The compact enclosure houses two 5¡È (127mm) LF/MF drivers and a 1.7¡È (44mm) diaphragm, 1¡± (25mm) exit HF compression drive unit on a plane-wave waveguide – giving the i-2 its 90¡Æ x 30¡Æ HF pattern. The waveguide is rotatable to allow easy use in either vertical or horizontal orientation. A new internal asymmetric three-way passive crossover maintains flat frequency and phase responses, allowing the i-2 to compare to products requiring dedicated control devices while only utilising one amplifier channel. The sealed enclosure design creates a very gentle LF roll off, allowing the i-2 to reproduce meaningful bass even when used on its own, if required.
The compact enclosure is constructed from premium multi-laminate Birch plywood and is finished in black or white textured paint as standard, however RAL colour matching as well as weather protection options are available. The front of the loudspeaker is protected by a rigid steel grille. The enclosure contains a variety of threaded fixings for attachment of optional rigging hardware.
The i-2 requires a single amplifier channel, and should be used with professional power amplifiers capable of delivering 300-500W RMS into an 8-ohm load. For optimal results, the EM Acoustics AQ-3 power amplifier should be used.
